From Executive Director, Robert Hofmann

Dear Friends of the Continental Sloop Providence:

This spring a generous corporate supporter of PMHF's education programs, Bacou-Dalloz of Smithfield, RI, presented the PMHF with a check for $5,000.00 to benefit Gallagher Middle School students. With this funding, Gallagher Middle School youth will sail aboard the Sloop Providence and take part in her Classroom Under Sail program. We sincerely thank Bacou-Dalloz for their generosity. Bacou-Dalloz sets the pace for other Rhode Island corporations who wish to provide young people in Rhode Island with the unique opportunity to experience classroom lessons in math, science, history and literature outboard the Sloop Providence - Rhode Island's sailing classroom. Again, thank you Bacou-Dalloz!

Also, this spring, we received a wonderful gift of ship's paint from Interlux Paints. This donation represents the second time that Interlux has made this donation to the Sloop Providence. On behalf of Captain Steve Brown and the crew, thank you Interlux!

In my March report to you, I discussed how after thirty years of sailing, the Continental Sloop Providence is getting some much needed repairs. Our refit is well underway. Phase I is nearing completion. Phase II will begin sometime in November.

Ensure that the Sloop Providence will sail another thirty years. Please make a donation to the Providence’s refit project.

Donate securely through PayPal. All amounts are gratefully accepted. Your financial support is vital to our organization and very much appreciated. As the Providence Maritime Heritage Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, your donation is fully tax deductible.

We look forward to an exciting summer in the Great Lakes and a busy fall in Narragansett Bay. Visit our ship's schedule to view our list of public sails in the month of October. Reservations are recommended.

Fair winds. – Robert Hofmann
